I’ve been kinda, sorta, obsessively looking at these things online lately. I mean, who *hasn’t* spent an afternoon window shopping (virtually, of course) for ridiculously expensive accessories? It’s practically a national pastime, isn’t it? Especially during, y’know… *gestures vaguely at everything*.
Anyway, I keep seeing these Bottega Veneta scarves pop up everywhere. Woodbury Common’s got ’em, apparently? (Side note: Woodbury Common. Last time I was there, it was a complete zoo. Worth it for the discounts, maybe, but bring snacks and comfy shoes, seriously.) And Vestiaire Collective? Second-hand Bottega Veneta? That’s actually kinda genius. Get the lux without totally obliterating your bank account. Plus, it’s more sustainable, right? Win-win!
ShopStyle’s also got a whole lotta listings – “Over 40”, they say! And you can get cash back? Okay, now you’re talking. I might actually consider buying something if I can get a little kickback. Gotta justify the price tag somehow, y’know?
And then there’s IFCHIC with the “Silk Graphic Printed Scarf” and “Bottega Veneta Scarves on sale!”. SALE! *cue the angels singing*. Though, tbh, even “on sale” it’s probably still more than I usually spend on… well, anything fabric-related that isn’t bedding.
But… they’re just so *pretty*. Especially the cashmere ones. Saks is pushing the men’s cashmere scarf in navy, and then there’s another cashmere one with a leather patch in charcoal melange. Why are they marketing men’s scarves to me? Does it matter? Not really. Cashmere is cashmere, and if it’s soft and warm and Bottega Veneta, who cares who it’s *supposed* to be for? I’d rock that charcoal melange one, no problem.
Honestly, the whole “high precision” thing? Yeah, I get it. These are *made* well. You’re paying for the craftsmanship, the materials, the brand name, all that jazz. But at the end of the day, it’s a scarf. It keeps you warm. Does it keep you warmer than a $20 scarf from Target? Probably not. Does it *look* a heck of a lot better? Absolutely.
