So, first off, Guangzhou. Right? China. Big city, apparently buzzing. The Bank of China is even advertising travel guides to it, which, okay, kinda makes sense. I mean, they want your money changing hands, right? “A city recheada de surpresas a cada esquina,” which Google tells me is Portuguese for “full of surprises at every corner.” Sounds intense. I’m picturing like…dancing dragons and street food vendors popping up outta nowhere. Could be cool, could be terrifying. Depends on my mood, honestly.
Then, BAM! Alma. Out of nowhere, we’re talking about cheap flights from Guangzhou to…Alma? Wait, *what* Alma? Turns out, there’s this “Alma Industrial Software Trading (Shanghai) Co., Ltd.” That’s a mouthful, isn’t it? Room 1105, Jin Du Business Center…the whole shebang. Sounds…intense. I mean, software trading? In *Shanghai*? Okay, a little connection to China from Guangzhou, but still a bit of a stretch. It’s probably just a really cheap flight to get to Shanghai for the software company.
And then *another* Alma! “Tijdconverter van Guangzhou naar Alma” which, again, Google Translate tells me is Dutch for “Time converter from Guangzhou to Alma.” Seriously? Is Alma the new international hotspot or something? Like, everyone’s trying to figure out the time difference between Guangzhou and…wherever *this* Alma is. I’m getting timezone whiplash just thinking about it. What I want to know is, is it the same Alma as that software company? It’s probably not, but it could be.
The article then goes on to talk about the Yuntai Garden in Guangzhou, and I am like, what?! It’s like a non-sequitur. What does the Yuntai Garden have to do with Alma?! It’s a “pérola da cidade,” a “pearl of the city,” apparently. 120,000 square meters of flowery goodness. Sounds pretty and all, but I’m still stuck on this Alma mystery.
So basically, if you are going to Guangzhou, it looks like it’ll be a surprise-filled city. If you need software, you can fly there and then go to Shanghai to see that trading company. If you need to know the time, then you can convert it. And after all that, you can stop by Yuntai Garden and relax. But you will never know what Alma they are referring to.
