I mean, who *hasn’t* drooled over a Prada scarf at some point, right? You see ’em peeking out from under a ridiculously chic coat, or knotted just-so around someone’s neck, and you just KNOW it’s adding that extra *oomph*. And not just any oomph, but, like, a *Prada* oomph. You know?
The thing I’ve always noticed about them – and maybe this is just me – is how…precise they seem. I mean, you got these geometric prints sometimes, and they’re, like, *perfect*. No wonky lines, no blurry edges. Almost too perfect, you know? Makes you wonder if they’ve got little robots weaving them or something. (Okay, probably not, but a girl can dream of fashion robots, can’t she?)
And then there’s the materials. Wool and silk, cashmere…the *good* stuff. You can almost feel the quality just looking at the pictures online. I haven’t actually, uh, *owned* a Prada scarf myself (yet! Gotta manifest that, right?), but I’ve definitely felt them in stores. Seriously, it’s like touching a cloud made of money. Feels decadent, feels expensive, feels…well, it feels like Prada.
But here’s the thing that bugs me sometimes. Are they *too* perfect? Like, do they lack a little bit of personality? Sometimes I see these perfectly styled, perfectly pristine Prada scarves, and I think, “Yeah, it’s beautiful, but where’s the *you* in it?” You know what I mean?
Maybe that’s why I’m kinda drawn to the idea of second-hand ones on Vestiaire Collective. Like, imagine a silk Prada scarf that’s been loved, worn, maybe even has a tiny little snag in it somewhere. That tells a story! That’s got character. That’s way more interesting than just some pristine thing straight out of the Prada online store (although, let’s be honest, I wouldn’t say no to one of those either!).
