First off, let’s be real: playing as an Alpha clone is kinda like trying to run a marathon with one leg tied. You *can* technically do it, and some people even claim to enjoy the challenge. But you’re gonna be significantly slower, and you’re gonna miss out on a whole chunk of the fun. I mean, you can only learn, like, 102 skills compared to the, like, 300+ that Omega lets you get. That’s huge! Forget flying those sweet battleships or even some of the cooler cruisers without going Omega, ya feel?
Now, the Basic Omega gets you past that massive skill limit. You can finally fly all the ships and learn all the skills… *almost*. See, that’s where the Standard Omega comes in.
Honestly, the differences aren’t game-breaking. I mean, both let you fly the same ships and use the same skills. But Standard Omega gives you little perks. Like, you get extra mining arrays on your planets. Okay, cool, if you’re into that whole Planetary Interaction thing (personally, I find it kinda boring, but hey, to each their own). And apparently, you get slightly more skill points per minute. I think it’s like, 35 points/minute with Basic, and… I honestly can’t remember exactly how much more Standard gives you. It’s not enough to make a *huge* difference, but it adds up over time, I guess.
So, is Standard Omega worth the extra cash? Hmmm… depends. If you’re REALLY into optimizing your ISK production and min-maxing everything, then yeah, maybe. But if you’re just looking to fly cooler ships and have a bit more freedom, the Basic Omega is probably the way to go. I mean, you can always upgrade later if you feel like you’re missing out.
Honestly, I think the whole “Basic vs. Standard” thing is just a way for NetEase to squeeze a bit more money out of us. Smart on their end, I guess. But don’t feel pressured to go for the Standard unless you’re a hardcore player. Me? I’ve bounced back and forth between the two. Sometimes I splurge on Standard, sometimes I stick with Basic. Depends on how much ISK I’ve made (or lost!) lately.
