So, I was browsing, you know, the internet – as one does – and I stumbled across a bunch of stuff about Dior in China. First off, yeah, they’re totally sold there. Apparently, Beijing has a bunch of fancy Dior boutiques. Like, *a bunch*. Think about it: all those handbags and perfumes and, ugh, the clothes… it’s gotta be a goldmine, right?
Then, things get, like, a little murkier. I saw something about “Dior contractors suspected of exploiting Chinese,” which is, like, *yikes*. It’s all tied into the whole “Factory Directory” thing – you know, Escopos 1, 2, and 3 – all that emissions stuff. I guess, maybe, it’s all related to ethical production or something. I’m not entirely sure, if I’m honest. What are “Escopos” anyway? Sounds like some sci-fi movie.
And then, to make it even more confusing, there’s some legal stuff going on, “Dior labor exploitation: judges officially investigate.” Sheesh. Talk about a PR nightmare!
So, where does this leave us? Well, on the one hand, you’ve got this super-glamorous image of Dior, all fancy perfume bottles (I saw something about the “Top 10 Perfume and Fragrance Glass Bottle” somewhere, must be gorgeous), and beauty trends that are “na vanguarda da,” which I’m guessing is Portuguese for “on the cutting edge” or something? I mean, they’re clearly making bank in China. On the other hand, there are these accusations of exploitation and, well, let’s just say it doesn’t look good.
