Okay, so I was digging around online, ’cause, you know, idle hands and all that. And I keep seeing all this stuff about…well, basically, you CAN get custom Givenchy scarves. Which, honestly, kinda blew my mind a little. I always thought it was just, like, designer stuff you either bought off the rack (if you could afford it, LOL) or you didn’t.
Turns out, there’s a whole thing happening. You got places like 1stDibs where you can find vintage and contemporary Givenchy *stuff* (they mention other accessories too, but we’re focusing on scarves here!). But, that’s not *exactly* custom, is it? That’s just finding something old that someone else already designed.
Then you get into the *real* custom stuff. I saw a bunch of places talking about being “custom plush scarf factories” and “Givenchy scarf manufacturers” where you can get, like, a minimum of 300 pieces made. THREE HUNDRED?! Who needs 300 Givenchy scarves?! Unless you’re running a, like, a really, really high-end cult or something.
Seriously though, it seems like there’s a demand for this. I mean, FARFETCH is even selling Givenchy scarves, so clearly, people are buying them. And then you have the sites offering to actually *print* your own designs onto silk scarves. Which, I guess, is the closest you get to *truly* custom Givenchy. I mean, you’re designing it, right? Even if Givenchy themselves aren’t officially involved.
But…here’s where my brain kinda explodes a little. Like, if you’re going to go through the hassle of designing your *own* scarf, why slap a Givenchy logo on it? Isn’t the point of custom stuff to be…unique? To express *your* style, not just piggyback off a designer brand?
Maybe I’m just old-fashioned. Or maybe I’m just jealous ’cause I can’t afford a *real* Givenchy scarf, let alone 300 custom ones.
