I’ve been eyeing ’em for ages. Saw some stuff on Saintagés (whoever *that* is, LOL). They pinned some Balenciaga caps, and it’s all like, “flourish to your next outfit!” Okay, Balenciaga, I *hear* you. But flourish how? With a baseball cap? I mean, I get it, high-fashion, irony, whatever, but still…
Then I saw something about Nordstrom having Balenciaga hats AND scarves FOR MEN. Okay, now we’re talking beanies and trilby hats. Trilby? Seriously? Who even wears those anymore? Unless you’re trying to look like you’re auditioning for a period drama. Maybe Balenciaga is bringing it back? I dunno. Style is weird like that.
But the *real* juicy stuff is the pre-owned stuff. You know, like Vestiaire Collective or something. They’re all like, “up to 70% off RRP!” RRP, what is that? Recommended Retail Price? LOL. Basically, you can get a used Balenciaga hat for, like, *almost* the price of a regular, non-Balenciaga hat. Tempting, right? Then you can pretend that you are a designer fashionista like a famous celebrity.
And then there’s the whole Cristòbal Balenciaga thing. Spanish haute couturier! Sounds fancy AF. Sculptural volumes and strict modernity? I mean, I don’t even know what that means in hat-speak. Does it mean the hat will magically rearrange my face to look more fashionable? Probably not. But it *does* sound cool.
