Anyway, CELINE. So, apparently, they’re pretty serious about the whole “Made in Italy” thing. I saw something about a new factory in Tuscany, Radda in Chianti, which, like, sounds super fancy. Doubling their production, which is, like, a *lot* of handbags, right? I mean, have you *seen* the price tag on a CELINE bag? You kinda expect it to be hand-stitched by, like, Italian artisans sipping espresso between stitches. And honestly, according to my Google searches, it seems they are pretty serious about paying their workers a livable wage, which is a major plus in my book. I’m so over supporting brands that exploit people.
I mean, the CELINE website, obviously, is all sleek and polished, just showcasing the new collections. Bags, leather goods, the whole shebang. You won’t find much about the actual factory itself there, though. You gotta dig a little bit. Which is kinda shady, I feel like, but whatever. Most brands don’t exactly advertise where they’re churning out the goods, do they?
Speaking of digging, I saw something about Celine being founded way back in 1945? Céline Vipiana, the founder. I mean, wow. Talk about history. It’s so cool to think about all the different eras CELINE has gone through. From Céline to CELINE (that’s a weird name change, right?)
